Russian Wiki[edit]

Yes. By all means include Russian which is an important source of information about all the SU countries. I was thinking of adding a section on major non-Latin languages where there was early interest in women. Ipigott, I found this on the Ukrainian Wikipedia. It seems to be something of a women in red month project but, as far as I can tell it was only done from Nov 15 to December 15, 2017 and hasn't been repeated. --ARose Wolf 17:27, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is a Project:Feminism on the Ukrainian Wikipedia but it is sadly showing not active. Though, upon looking at participants there are two that joined this year. I may just leave them a little note seeing if they would like to collaborate with us and restart the project there, if its something they are interested in. EN Wikipedia or Meta[edit]

There have been suggestions we should include a page along these lines on Meta. I suggest we first include this article under Women in Red on the EN Wikipedia where I think it will initially enjoy greater visibility. Over the next few weeks, we could include appropriate links on some of the existing Meta pages about women and specifically inform many of the more active women projects in other language versions of its existence. This could lead to further enhancements.

In this connection, I think it might be useful to convert the MDY dates into the more widely accepted DMY as this will allow for easier copying, etc. I'll thy to complete this today.--Ipigott (talk) 09:28, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ARoseWolf: Yes, the observatory should be included on our page even though much of the info needs to be updated. I also think a link to our page should be included somewhere on Gender gap. Perhaps the best place would be under Categories, lists and other similar pages. Unfortunately these pages are seldom visited. Maybe the best option would simply be to include a message on the main Gender gap talk page. I think we also need to look carefully through all the Gender gap pages, especially Resources, Groups and Initiatives to see if there's anything else important to be added to our lists.--Ipigott (talk) 08:28, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ipigott: I've noticed a lot of these projects need to be updated. Most of the Women in Red projects are somewhat mirrored so that's a positive but some of them haven't been updated in months or even years. I'm going to continue filling in the blanks and I was responded to by one member of a project with enough additional information to add it to the list. I honestly believe doing everything you mentioned above gives it the most exposure. The pages may be seldom visited but that doesn't mean they aren't visited. Ipigott, I believed "Recognition Date" to mean the affiliation (funding) approval date from the WMF given to these projects. That's the date I went with. Rosiestep would have to confirm if my thinking was correct or not. If it was meant to be something different then we can definitely find and make those changes. I think I've added about as much general information as I can to the list so you can begin linking as you see fit. I'm still waiting on contact from a few groups/projects/affiliates to fill in their information. It's a pretty exhaustive list as it is. I am going through the Gender Gap links now to see if there is anything we may have missed or additional information that may be useful to add to the list. --ARose Wolf 15:54, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ARoseWolf Yes, "Recognition Date" refers to the date that the User Group's application was "approved" (creating a page on Meta is just one step in the process) and the entity became an officially-recognized Affiliate.
