Yaoguan (Chinese: 遥观镇) is a township-level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Wujin District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, the People's Republic of China.[2] It is located in the province of Jiangsu, in the eastern part of the country, about 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of the provincial capital, Nanjing. As of 2010, it had a recorded population of 100,065.[1] This population consists of 45,763 women and 54,302 men. Children under 15 made up 12.0%, adults 15-64 made up 81%, and seniors over 65 made up 6.0%.[1]

Geography and climate[edit]

Yaoguan is densely populated, with 913 inhabitants per square kilometer recorded in 2016.[3] The nearest larger community is Changzhou, 11.1 kilometres (6.9 mi) northwest of Yaoguan. The geography around Yaoguan consists mostly of agricultural land.[4]

Yaoguan has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa) with hot and wet summers and cold and humid winters. Average annual rainfall [de] is 1,390 millimetres (55 in). The rainiest month is July, with an average of 250 millimetres (9.8 in) of precipitation , and the driest is January, with 38 millimetres (1.5 in) of precipitation.[5]
