Özyeğin University is a private, non-profit university located in Istanbul, Turkey.
History
[edit]Özyeğin University was founded by the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation, and its establishment was approved by Foundation Act No. 5656, published in the Official Gazette No. 26526 on May 18, 2007.[2]
Özyeğin University is an innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial research university integrated with modern life with the mission of serving society. In line with this mission, Özyeğin University aims to prepare individuals with in-depth knowledge of rising professions, proficient in foreign languages, competent in communication and information technologies, having sheer talent in practical skills, and exhibit entrepreneurial spirit. Özyeğin University aspires to instill in students the passion and dedication to make a difference for their employers and communities. Özyeğin University believes that all distinguished students must have access to high-quality education, no matter their circumstances. The University has 7 faculties, 3 graduate schools, and 1 vocational school, offering 25 bachelor’s degrees, 36 master’s degrees, and 10 doctoral degree programs. Özyeğin University is ranked 1st in 2024 among the foundation universities in Turkey for the 6th consecutive year, in recognition of its social, environmental and economic impact in the “Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.” Özyeğin University was also recognized as one of the top five foundation universities in Türkiye according to “THE Asia University Rankings 2024” and “THE Young University Rankings 2024.”
Campus
[edit]Altunizade Campus is the university's first campus, which was opened in June 2008. The university launched the main new campus in Çekmeköy, Istanbul. Later the building in Altunizade was evacuated and all departments moved to the Çekmeköy Campus in May 2013.
Organization and structure
[edit]Özyeğin University aims to contribute to the development of Turkish society by producing original, creative, and valuable knowledge with its thoroughly modern education system, innovative structure, and service sector oriented education programs as well as being financially accessible to all students through an effective scholarship and financial support model.[3]
