It is an SUV sized similarly to the Mercedes-Benz GLS or BMW X7.[3] The vehicle adopts the design concept called "Kunpeng Zhanyi" with a drag coefficient of 0.264 Cd for the EV version and 0.279 Cd for the EREV version.[4]

Developed in conjunction with Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), the M9 is equipped with many technologies such as Huawei ADS 2.0, which is an AI-powered advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) consisting of one Lidar, three millimetre wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and several cameras, HarmonyOS 4 intelligent cockpit and other technologies. It is available in Max and Ultra model configurations.[5]

The AITO M9 is built with an aluminum chassis, with 80 percent of its body-in-white is made of this metal. It is also equipped with air suspension with an adjustment range of up to 80 mm (3.1 in). Other equipment include a 75-inch augmented reality driver's head-up display (AR-HUD), 25 speakers and three screens up front consisting of a 15.6 inches central display, a 16-inch front passenger’s monitor, and a 12.3 inch instrument panel.
