Abdul Hannan (Urdu: عبد الحنان) (born September 8, 1990), is a singer-songwriter from in Lahore, Pakistan.[1] In 2024 he made his debut with Coke Studio Pakistan season 15 song "O Yaara" with Kaavish.[2][3]

Life and career

Hannan was born and raised in Karachi in a family of Baloch musicians. He spent his childhood in Lahore where he studied primary school and then attended the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) in Topi, Swabi.[4] During his childhood he lived in Berlin, Germany and after Bikhra reach among listeners made him return to his native Pakistan.

His 2020 single "Faaslay" became a sleeper hit after it went viral in the Pakistani music scene following its release.[5]

On February 11, 2022, he released “Bikhra” and later on March 18, 2022, he released “Iraaday”, having a great reach. Both tracks dominated Pakistan top 10 charts for over 100 weeks in a row and at the same time resonated on international charts.[6] "Bikhra" landed at number one,[7] while "Iraaday" followed closely at number two for several months his song "Iraaday" achieved international recognition by appearing on the US Secretary Antony Blinken playlist of the year.[8]

One of her next releases, "Siyah", also landed a spot in the top 10 of the Pakistani charts, making it the third of her songs. Consistently ranking in the top 10 most streamed artists on Spotify in Pakistan, his music has remained on the charts since 2022.[9] In 2023, Abdul Hannan discography has amassed millions of streams[10], making him one of the most streamed artists in Pakistan and India.[11][12]

In 2024, Abdul Hannan made a featured appearance on the world-renowned music platform Coke Studio Pakistan season 15.[13][14] His song “O Yaara” became the highlight of the season, receiving a high number of streams.[15][16]

In 2024 Hannan appeared on Zaeden 8-track album 'Zaeden 02'; "The album fits the way of channeling childhood nature through music," says Indian singer Zaeden.[17][18][19] According to Rolling Stones the single "kya hua?" It is a respite in the middle of the album, presenting a melody with catchy chords made with simple instrumentals.[20]
