In 2019 Deegan was cast for the role of Joe and a short film called Perfect 10 which was Deegan's first role.[1] In 2021 Deegan took over the role of Liam Butcher from James Ford on the BBC soap opera EastEnders for 2 months.[2] His storylines during his stint on the soap have included a feud with Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) husband Keegan Butcher-Baker (Zack Morris), accidentally abducting Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) whilst trying to steal cars and sell them for Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks).[1] In 2022 he was cast for a guest role on The Chelsea Detective for 1 episode as Jake Turner.[3] Deegan was also cast as Short Mark in a short film called Taylor in 2022. In 2023 Deegan was cast for the role of Flynn in a film called Silver Haze.

In January 2023, Deegan revealed that he had returned to working on a construction site in between his acting career after he posted a photo of him on Instagram and he wrote: "back to basics," revealing that he had returned to his day to day job away for all his acting roles.[4][5] Deegan also revealed that he had took a career in music after he shared a video on Instagram of himself rapping, he wrote: "This is just the beginning, this one's for you pops, I told you I'll make it one way or another and I'm gonna do just that. "Deegan revived lots of support for fans and co-stars. Danny Dyer his former co-star from soap EastEnders who played Mick Carter, he replied to his post with flame emojis and Deegan replied back saying "Big love Dan". Deegan also received support from co-star Milly Zero who portrayed Dotty Cotton on EastEnders, she replied to his post with the folded hand and pink heart emoji to show her support.[4]

Following a year after Deegan's short stint on EastEnders he posted on his instagram, and he wrote: "This time last year I was given the opportunity some kids would dream of growing up, I can't explain how grateful I am, I find my self day dreaming sometimes about memories on and off set when I was on EastEnders. I learnt so much and met some seriously talented genuine people that I was lucky enough to share the screen with. Let alone the people behind the camera. It's a big ol family on Albert square. Undeniably one of my biggest achievements in its self. The passion I have for this craft will never fade, the hunger will drive me and the will power will make me."[4][5]
