Synthesis

A reaction of pure tin tetrachloride with ammonium chloride:[4]

SnCl4 + 2NH4Cl → (NH4)2SnCl6

Physical properties

The compound is a pink salt and corrosive agent.[5]

Use

The compound is used as a mordant in dyeing.[4]
