He made André Leroy established the most important nursery in Europe. The Leroy nursery was bought twice, (1910 and 1930) by the horticulturalist René Levavasseur.

In 1859, André Leroy was in charge of developing a garden on the Angers mall. On 15 May 1859 the new garden opened to the public. The mall garden quickly became one of the busiest places in the Angevin city.[2]
