Anne-Sophie Mercier is a French journalist born in 1964.
Biography
[edit]Anne-Sophie Mercier is the daughter of General Philippe Mercier, former Chief of defence of the Army from 1996 to 1998, with President Jacques Chirac.[1]
A graduate of HEC Paris and Sciences Po, she was, until December 2006, a journalist for Arte, where she co-presented the show Le Forum des Européens.[2]
She started in the economic press, at Nouvel Economiste, before joining the team at L'Événement du jeudi, where she was a senior reporter in the political department.[3] In 1997, she became deputy head of the political department of Le Parisien, which she left in 1999 to launch, with around thirty other journalists, I-télévision, the Canal+ group's news channel.
In 2003, she left I-télé for Arte. Until June 2010, she collaborated with the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, where she wrote columns, portraits and reports, mainly on subjects of French domestic politics.
Anne-Sophie Mercier participates every week in On refait le monde on RTL, an essentially political debate show, and writes a political column on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Canal+ show L'Édition Spécial (12:40 p.m. – 1:40 p.m.), during the 2007–2008 season.[4]
She regularly participates in Philippe Labro's show on Direct 8, Langue de bois s'abstenir. Since leaving Charlie Hebdo, she has worked for the political pages of Les Inrockuptibles and Le Monde Magazine. She joined the political department of Le Monde in September 2011.[5]
She collaborates with Le Canard enchaîné, where she writes, among other things, the « Prises de bec » section, devoted to a personality portrayed in a sarcastic manner.[6]
