Arun Kumar Mehta

Arun Kumar Mehta is an IAS officer of 1988 batch, served as Chief Secretary[1][2][3] of Government of Jammu and Kashmir between 31st of May 2021 to November 2023. Earlier, he had served as the Additional Chief Secretary (Financial Commissioner), Finance department, in J&K Govt. between 1st of March 2019 and May 2021. He previously served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, besides Joint Secretary in Ministry of Urban Development in Government of India.

Early life and education[edit]

Mehta comes from Bihar. He has a B.Tech degree from IIT BHU and M. Tech from IIT Delhi. He did Ph.D from School and Planning and Architecture. He joined IAS on 25th August in 1988 and was assigned[4][5][6] to the J&K state cadre.
