The Battle of Willow Grange is a battle held on 23 November 1899 took place at Willow Grange, south of Estcourt. Here the Boer Forces under the leadership of General Piet Joubert won a victory over the British Forces. The battle was fought in bad weather; the lightning killed one Citizen and knocked two others unconscious and also killed six horses. One British soldier was also struck by lightning.[1][2][3][4]

The British Force lost 115 soldiers and 49 were wounded, while the Boer Force had two soldiers killed and two wounded.[1]
