Black Tomato is a luxury tour operator, founded in 2005[1] by Tom Marchant, James Merrett and Matt Smith. First founded in the UK, the company has since expanded into the US with over 80 members of staff. The company offers tailored trips to over 100 destinations across the world.
History
[edit]Tom Marchant, James Merrett and Matt Smith launched Black Tomato in 2005.
The founders decided on the name 'Black Tomato' after travelling in Eastern Europe and spotting the unusual ingredient on a menu, which they likened to their philosophy on travel.[2]
In 2009, Black Tomato opened an office in Shoreditch,[3][4] London, before opening an office in New York City in 2013[5] to better service their growing US audience.
Partnerships
[edit]Black Tomato has created various travel services in partnership with international brands, including:
- Eon Productions on a series of James Bond travel itineraries[6][7]
- Agatha Christie Limited on the Grand Tour itineraries[8]
