Carla Guevara – Laforteza (born December 26, 1975), is a celebrated Filipino musical theater actress known for her versatile performances in both local and international productions. [1]. She is popular on her role as Kim/Gigi in Miss Saigon in West End in the 90s. [2] She is also TV and Film actress under Star Magic [3], recording artist,[4],professional singer, and talent handler [5].

Guevara celebrated her 24 years with Star Magic as one of the Loyalty Awardees during the Star Magical Christmas event last November 19 2023 .[6]

Education and Personal life

Christened as Maria Carla Helena Amado Guevara, Carla is the 4th daughter of Business man Domingo “Boy” Guevara Jr, and Socialite Monette Amado Guevara, and was born and raised in Manila. She studied Grade school at Assumption Antipolo, and High school at Colegio San Agustin in Makati. She was a college freshman at De La Salle College of St Benilde taking up Interdisciplinary Studies when she got a call from Cameron Mackintosh that she had passed the auditions to be part of the cast of Miss Saigon[7] in London. Carla lived in New York from 2000 to 2006 and managed to finish her studies.

On March 2, 2002, Guevara married then fellow performing artist Godfrey Laforteza III in Long Island, New York. Godfrey is now an Executive Chef of Newport World Resorts. [8]. They have three children, Basil Luke Gregory (born 2001) , Sophia Elizabeth (born 2002,and Oreo (born 2010.) Her daughter Sophia is a member of Katseye, girl group under Hybe lables.[9]

2024, Guevara played the role of Rose and Edit in One More Chance: The Musical.[1]

Guevara is one the Philippines stars, who will perform on the a lavish two-night fundraising concert that celebrates the legacy of the duo behind some of the biggest and most adored musicals in history, including Les Misérables and Miss Saigon. [10]

Guevara will celebrate her 30th year in musical theater by Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on, the Triple Threats concert "A La Carlotta" on August 11.[11]
