I started this category for two reasons. First, to have an easy pathway from Category:Birth control to relevant legal articles. Previously, the path to, for example, Griswold v. Connecticut would have been to go up a cat to Reproductive rights, then down a cat to Reproductive rights case law, then down another cat to United States reproductive rights case law: that seemed too many clicks to have to go through for two topics so closely connected. Second, to group together articles about legal access to contraception: there are not enough law articles (only one child policy and Comstock laws, currently) to justify a "birth control law" category, but it's nice to have the court cases closely related to the law articles.

One issue is the inclusion of the U.S. court cases on compulsory sterilization. They are case law about birth control, but including them here would make this category almost a duplicate of Category:United States reproductive rights case law. I'm not sure what the best way to address this is, but for now I have not included them. LyrlTalk C 13:43, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
