imperial arms

[edit]
The family was given the right to bear the coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire by the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa.

I'm skeptical. Rietstap's Armorial gives two Carandini coats (neither with a title):

  • Argent, on a bend azure between four ears of grain or, a lion passant or; on a chief or an eagle sable, crowned or.
  • Argent, on a chevron azure, between in chief an eagle and in base a lion both sable, two ears of grain or.

(My loose translations from French blazon.) The first has a chief of the imperial arms; this could be a mark of Imperial favor, but is far more likely to mean only Ghibelline alignment (as in the arms of innumerable Italian families). —Tamfang (talk) 06:20, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
