Criteria[edit]

What inclusion criteria does this category maintain? Does a given language need to be

  1. the or an official language of the given country or territory?
  2. the dominant language amongst the population of the given country or territory?
  3. the language of a significant minority of the population of the given country or territory? If so, how significant (which may well lead to the adoption of an arbitrary percentage that cannot stand the test of WP:OR)?

Case in point: I think Category:Berber-speaking countries and territories (which currently has "Algeria", "Libya", and "Tunisia" in it) will fail criteria #1 and #2, except that Standard Algerian Berber is an official language in Algeria. As for criterion #3, I don't think we should even go there, because I expect endless WP:OR. (On the other hand, "Morocco" should probably be added per criterion #1 because of Standard Moroccan Amazigh). Cheers, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 18:52, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
