Throat cancer in the description on the category is piped to esophageal cancer, and there is no Deaths from esophageal cancer cat. Many cases of throat cancer are not in the esophagus, and many esophageal cancer cases are not in the throat. Qzm (talk) 13:58, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is going on? Throat cancer is not necessarily esophageal cancer - where is the discussion for the decision to treat them as identical?μηδείς (talk) 03:59, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

'Throat' cancer is not the same thing as oesophageal cancer

[edit]

I have seen a few articles linked here, where the person's cause of death is listed as "throat" cancer on their wikipedia page. The oesophagus is not part of the throat (pharynx), but is the elongated tube that connects throat to the stomach, and begins approximately just below the level of the vocal cords. Such deaths, if they are indeed due to throat cancer, should not be linked to this category.Nqr9 (talk) 16:36, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
