Scope of this category

[edit]

The category is called "Defunct United States courts" but is it supposed to include federal courts only, or state courts as well? Consider for example New Jersey Court of Errors and Appeals. I would think that the category should parallel Category:United States courts of appeals and include federal courts only. At present the category's scope note is ambiguous; it refers to "courts of the United States" which could mean courts of the federal judiciary branch, or courts in the United States as opposed to some other country. --Mathew5000 20:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that it only contains federal courts, and is categorized by Category:History of the United States government and Category:Judicial branch of the United States government answers your question as to its intended scope. If you think the category name lacks clarity on that point, do you have a suggestion for renaming it? Postdlf 21:37, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe "Defunct federal United States courts" would be a little better? In any event I changed the scope note. --Mathew5000 09:12, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
