I think it's important that this page has a section explaining how cultural "extinction" differs from that of animals. Ethnicities are far more nebulous and difficult to assess than are the existence of animal species. Rather than being a black and white matter of existing or not, ethnicities can survive in other forms or be absorbed into other cultures while still retaining their own identities. Languages are considered dead when no one speaks them, but their influence can live on long after they're gone. JBrownIII (talk) 06:08, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
