Most of the films on this list don't have anything on their pages indicating that the director disowned them.. not sure how most of then came to be added to this category so i won't change anything --Frantik (talk) 09:36, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've just removed two films that have no hint of Alan Smithee about them. A further one, Dune, is only "directed by Alan Smithee" in some of its cuts; and Twilight Zone is a big name director film in which a second assistant director (or something) was latterly labelled Alan Smithee. The category should really be reserved for films that are first publicly released with Alan Smithee tagged as the main director. Such films do exist, but this category has spread the net to include films that patently aren't disowned by their directors. --PLUMBAGO 09:50, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

Shouldn't this category be called "Films credited to Alan Smithee" since Alan Smithee didn't actually direct these films. Squandermania (talk) 18:37, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
