Republic of Ireland

Ireland

The one next door? 194.46.248.90 23:27, 10 January 2007 (UTC)himself[reply]

Florida

[edit]

Added Florida which was a British colony(albeit briefly) between the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War. Jcam 00:56, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who to include:

[edit]

In general, we want to put only the right time category in. So "Florida" (the modern US state) is not a former Birtish Colony. West Florida is and East Florida is. See the difference? I think I'll have to purge this cat. Way too many wrong era articles included. Kevlar67 21:30, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basutoland

[edit]

Basutoland (now Lesotho) should be listed under "B", not "T", or at least the name should be changed to "Territory of Basutoland" to avoid headscratching by readers. SteveStrummer (talk) 04:01, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On US inclusion

[edit]

I propose that the United States be removed. The nation as it is now was not a colony. Thirteen of the States were, and the appropriate pages listed. Only a fraction of the American states were started as English settlements, not even all of the original 13. The United States should be removed, and the Thirteen Colonies can be entered in its place. Boneyard90 (talk) 10:14, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

British Raj

[edit]

Bangladesh and Pakistan were part of India when India was under British rule, so it is not right to say Pakistan and Bangladesh were former British colonies, the term using British India, covering present Pakistan, Bangladesh and Republic of India, is better. There was no British colonial Government in Pakistan and Bangladesh. They did not exist then. They were part of India. Any reply?Ovsek (talk) 13:40, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
