Category:Great Backlog Drive 2010Category:Great Backlog Drive 2011 — It's 2011 now. Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 19:46, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ho hum. Two points... firstly, and most important, this shouldn't be raised as a requested move, see WP:RM#Processes beyond the scope of this page which reads in part Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves: Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. Secondly, if it took a month for anyone to notice this, is the category achieving anything anyway? Maybe just keep it as is for historical interest? Sometimes IMO we spend too much time organising things rather than actually doing them. Andrewa (talk) 09:28, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The drive only begun yesterday - with the WMF support - that's the reason this hasn't been dealt with until now. Regards, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 18:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm all for moving this category, but to Category:Great Backlog Drive. "We spend too much time organising things" may be a valid concern, but then again, some of us enjoy organising things. I'll sort it out as soon as I get a chance, we can close this discussion. The Cavalry (Message me) 19:39, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not opposed to moving this category if that's really what you want, and I'm sure the campaign is a great idea. But please, if you're trying to get people more involved, set them a good example. This move proposal sets an appallingly bad one in several ways. It ignores clearly established and documented procedures. Possibly as a result it's either badly thought out or badly communicated or both, it's enough of a muddle I'm not sure.
Perhaps my criticism could have been better put, my attempt at humour above didn't go down obviously. How can I help? Andrewa (talk) 20:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And in particular, if this move is closed, where should we discuss where to go to next? The proposal above to remove the date from the category seems a good one, in view of the mechanics of changing the category name. Andrewa (talk) 20:31, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please note the first point above, and maybe clarify the reason for the move when it is properly proposed. Is it ongoing, or a new drive? There seems some confusion. Andrewa (talk) 20:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The lack of correct procudures is entirely my fault. Not having experience in moving categories as I do, In asked someone who told me to use a move request template. If this has caused you some frustration then you have my humble apologies. Also, the drive has only recently started. Regards Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 20:34, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
