Asian History Books[edit]

Shouldn't there be a category for books regarding Asian history? I don't have time to go through and populate the new category or else I would do it myself. If nobody gets to it, maybe I'll have time next week.--WilliamThweatt 03:33, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Separating by Subject and Region[edit]

I've started separate subcategories to organize history books either by subject or region to clear up some equivocation on regional terms as it seems people are distinguishing between books coming from a region or country and being about a region or country, but are still throwing them in the same category.

As the distinction between a "Canadian history book", that is, a history book that is Canadian, and a "Canadian History book", that is, a book about Canadian History, is slight, I thought it best to overtly distinguish categories of history books from a region or country, and history books about a region or country.

I'm using region in regards to the book itself, not the content, because after all, we're trying to organize articles about the books, not about what the books are about. So to me to put an article into say, Category:Canadian history books, is to say that the article is about a history book that is itself Canadian, that is either written by a Canadian or published in Canada, regardless of what the content is.

For example: Ukraine: A History is about the history of Ukraine, but is written by a Canadian, and published in Canada, so to me it is both a Canadian history book, and a history book about Ukraine, but not a Ukrainian history book.

Sorry, I guess it should be "by Country", not "by Region" for my above message and example. It should all still apply though, sorting "by subject" when about a country, and "by country" when from a country.MRDXII (talk) 19:36, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect problem[edit]

Tried to move Expulsion of the Palestinians (book) to a more specific subcategory but the book is expulsion-proved. Being redirected to the author, its categories are beyond the reach.--Maxaxa (talk) 07:50, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
