History before independence[edit]

I have created Category:History of the Kyrgyz people as a parent category, to hold earlier history before the independence of Kyrgyzstan.

That includes the Soviet period. However, Anonimu (talk · contribs) has reverted the parenting of the KSSR category, stating "Previous categorization was better".

Can we reach a consensus on what periods should be categorised under "Kyrgyzstan"? – Fayenatic London 14:31, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that there are several ethnic groups living in Kyrgyzstan (and its direct predecessor, the Kyrgyz SSR) beside the Kyrgyz, I think it's best to keep everything not clearly related primarily to the Kyrgyz ethnic group in the country level category.Anonimu (talk) 14:29, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Another problem is that the area has a history predating the arrival of the Kyrgyz, and the Kyrgyz also have a history before that time. For example, Yuezhi, recently moved to Category:History of the Kyrgyz people, concerns events several centuries before the Kyrgyz arrived in the area. Kanguole 15:11, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I see that on 13 September Darokrithia (talk · contribs) reverted most of my edits, i.e. putting most of the articles back into Category:History of Kyrgyzstan. – Fayenatic London 09:05, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
