Name of category problematic[edit]

The language of this category's title means that it will only be used for the US side of the Pacific Northwest; unless it were titled "Native American and First Nations people of the Pacific Northwest". Granted, in nearly all cases except maybe Skookum Jim et al. they're gonna be from BC. This category is also redundant to nation/tribe-specific categories such as Category:Ktunaxa people and Category:Gitxsan people (except the Gitxsan are a First Nations people, not a Native American one. I didn't look through the list overleaf to see which tribe each was from; but ultimately there will be a tribe-specific category (or two or three) for each. Maybe a solution is to make the respective Native American/First Nations people subcats to this one, so for now that's what I'll do, though I doubt I'll remember them all that already exist. I'll take my cue from the "Pacific Northwest" part of the title, and leave a tiny "oh well" smirk on my face about the "Native American" part.Skookum1 (talk) 04:58, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name change proposal[edit]

In order to harmonize with {{Native peoples of the Pacific Northwest}} I suggest this category be renamed accordingly; do we take that to Categories for dicsussion: I feel uncomfortable adding more non-Native American-but-clearly-Native-peoples to the category until such a change.Skookum1 (talk) 21:32, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
