Problem with category name[edit]

"Internet properties" is not a commonly used or easily understandable name. Badagnani (talk) 00:46, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some time back, I started a category for "Web sites established in (year)", but then discovered that the "Internet properties" series was already well established. So, I deprecated my own category and filled in the gaps in the "Internet properties by year of establishment".
The advantage of the term "Internet properties" is that it is broader than just web sites, both in terms of protocols (e.g., Unix, bbs, etc.), and in terms of organization (e.g., Amazon is a lot bigger than just its web site). Kestenbaum (talk) 06:04, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But, if we don't have any article explaining the term "Internet property," it's really going to be confusing, even to native English speakers such as myself. I agree that a "Websites by year of establishment" cat is something we've needed for a very long time. Badagnani (talk) 06:09, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to that change (provided all of the existing content were transferred to the renamed categories). You should propose it in Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. Kestenbaum (talk) 16:01, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
