I chose the name "municipal heraldry" to be inclusive of both seals and coats of arms. The way they have evolved in the US makes the difference pretty much semantic.--Dudeman5685 (talk) 23:37, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that explains why there are many articles here dealing just with seals and not actually with coats of arms. I think many cities in the US uses their seals as if they were coats of arms, and even give them colours! I'll add Category:Seals of cities and towns to this category.
