This category is currently incomplete[edit]

@Johnbod: this category is currently incomplete, as many artists' categories are instead structured as grandchildren of Category:Portraits by country. Can we agree to add most of the sub-sub-cats of the latter into Category:Portraits by artist?

We should of course make exceptions for Category:Mona Lisa, and cases such as Category:Paintings by Frans Hals which has a sub-cat Category:Frans Hals portraits (already in the target). Would it be right to move most of the contents of Category:Paintings by Frans Hals into the Portraits sub-cat, and then re-parent it out of Category:Portraits by Dutch artists? – Fayenatic London 22:03, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes to para 1, no to Frans Hals - I just moved 2 more to portraits, but the others are genre paintings or tronies so not actually "portraits" - lots of "Laughing Boy..." titles. Hope that helps. Cheers. Johnbod (talk) 01:07, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I added six more sub-cats here. I also re-parented the Hals categories. – Fayenatic London 22:03, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
