Category emptying

[edit]

This category was recently emptied and the contents were transferred to the newly created Category:People of the Polish–Russian War of 1792 (Russian side). I have reversed this undiscussed change. I understand why the change may have been made: there were concerns that those included in the category are not uniformly "Russian", as some are ethnic Polish people or from the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, etc. However, changes need to be proposed and discussed at WP:CFD. I might suggest that one possible solution would be renaming the category Category:Imperial Russian people of the Polish–Russian War of 1792. This would help reduce the implication that all those in the category need to be ethnically Russian—as long as they were fighting on the side of Imperial Russia, they can be included in the category. This is not really a nationality/ethnicity category: it's more of a "whose side where they on" category, and a rename proposal could be made to clarify that. I actually liked the Russian side option, but sure, we can have a CfD discussion. I hope Matthias will propose it. He does enough category creation here that it would be high time for him to learn how to handle them on en wiki - I hope you agree, Matthias :) let me know if I can be of any assistance. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 23:21, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You could propose it if you support it. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:33, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
These Targowica Polish supporters weren`t neither Russians nor Imperial Russians but Polish treators of Polish King supporting Russian side in War. so category people of the Polish–Russian War of 1792 (Russian side) is more neutral Mathiasrex (talk) 07:45, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
