Opposed speedy move request[edit]

Take a note that Carlaude opposed only because of Category:Euphrates River, which was in danger of getting erased. Carlaude said: "I will support the proposed rename if it is not considered an obstacle to keeping Category:Euphrates River." So it could be resolved by creating a soft category redirect (WP:SOFTREDIR). I also have no idea why we must keep either Category:Euphrates River or Category:Euphrates each time, when there are soft redirects.
Also, Postdlf's rationale ("Oppose per my comments re: the related proposed renaming of Category:River Tiber.") was overturned by Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2011 July 21#Tiber. The Tiber's category is now Category:Tiber.
My two cents: Judging by Euphrates (disambiguation), there is only one notable eponymous entry, Euphrates the Stoic. However, there is no ambiguity in our case because the above-mentioned subcategories of Category:Euphrates use "the Euphrates" in one way or another, which exclusively refers to the river (wiktionary:Euphrates#English). Yes. Euphrates (disambiguation) contains nothing that is also titled simply Euphrates, as such none of the entries there use parenthetical disambiguation, except Euphrates River (album) but this is an apparently obscure entry compared to the river. As such, I regard the move request as valid. Brandmeistertalk 15:02, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
