Twin or Twins
[edit]The category name Twins was chosen in 2005, see Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2005 October 7#Category:Twin to Category:Twins. However, it was moved via the Speedy procedure WP:C2D in 2014 to match the main article Twin.
Use of the singular does help to distinguish the WP:Topic category from the sub-cat set category Category:Twin people.
It also conforms to the parent Category:Sibling which was preferred over "Siblinghood" at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2016 February 25#Category:Siblinghood. In contrast, Category:Cousinship was chosen at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2021 March 24#Category:Cousins.
French Wikipedia is able to use fr:Catégorie:Gémellité for the topic and Jumeaux for the set category. However, we do not have such a word; although Google Translate translates Gémellité as Twinship/Twinness, such forms are not widely used in English.
I am leaving this as a record of my thoughts, after considering a CFD to return the topic category to "Twins" and deciding against it. – Fayenatic London 14:14, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
