Should this category exist? Most, if not all, of the violinists in this category were Jews -- and most certainly would not have considered themselves to be Ukrainian. There were some Jews who, culturally, were more Russian than Jewish (and some Jews converted to Christianity), but even if they lived in the Ukraine they would have considered themselves Russian, not Ukrainian, and spoken Russian, not Ukrainian. In addition, Odessa was (and is) a Russian city, despite being (currently) part of Ukraine.
