Clara McGregor (born (1996-02-04)4 February 1996[1]) is an English actress and model. She is a daughter of Scottish actor Ewan McGregor.

Early life

Clara was born in England to Ewan McGregor and his then-wife Eva Mavrakis. She is the eldest of McGregor's five children.[1] She grew up in London until she was 12; she and her family travelled around the world in accordance with her father's acting career.[2]

McGregor initially studied photography at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts before switching to acting. She graduated in 2017.[3][4][1]

Career

In 2017, McGregor signed with Wilhelmina Models.[5] She has modelled for Playboy, Ferragamo and Bluebella.[6][1] She and Dutch actress Vera Bulder launched Deux Dames Entertainment, a production company that develops female-driven stories.[7][8] In March 2021, it was announced that Deux Dames Entertainment and indie production company Black Magic would be producing a limited series adaptation of Goddess, a novel by Kelly Gardiner about 17th-century opera singer Julie d'Aubigny.[7]

McGregor has made appearances in American Horror Story: NYC and the 2021 film Reefa, and has appeared alongside her father in films such as Christopher Robin, The Birthday Cake and Bleeding Love.[6]

In April 2024, it was announced that McGregor would appear in The Philosophy of Dress, a satire film directed by Cyrus Duff.[9] That May, she was cast in the lead role in Noon, a film directed by Xavier Palud. Palud previously directed the horror films Them and The Eye.[10]

Personal life

McGregor lives in Los Angeles with her family.[5] She speaks French.[2] She has been in a relationship with director Jimmy Giannopoulos, who directed The Birthday Cake, since 2017.[11][3]

In 2019, McGregor came out as bisexual.[12] In the same year, she revealed that she had been dealing with personal traumas, including an addiction to Xanax, domestic abuse, depression and rape.[13][5]

In June 2021, McGregor had to visit an emergency room after being bitten on the face by a dog prior to the premiere of The Birthday Cake.[14]
