Dhanoa Jats (caste)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dhanoa[1][2][3] is an historical lineage or feudal affiliations among the Landholding Jats and Amritdhari Sikh or traditionally Orthodox family under khalsa Panth, formerly they played an important role in the early phase of Sikh constant war-crises era.[who?] Eventually the topological of Dhanoa faction derived from dhan 'blessed' + oaa'those'. This epithet was bestowed on the family by the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind Sahib (1595-1644) to honor the family's sacrifices in resisting the excesses of the Mughal rulers.[4][verification needed]
