The 1935 merger of Fox Film Corporation and Twentieth Century Pictures was announced in the early spring of 1935, and was completed on May 31, 1935. The merger of equals caused Fox Film and Twentieth Century Pictures to join forces into a single company known as Twentieth Century Fox (today known as 20th Century Studios) after Joseph Schenck and Darryl Zanuck left the company United Artists over a stock.
