Draft:1971 Korean Air Lines F27 hijacking
The Korean Air Lines F27 hijacking occurred on 23 January 1971, when a KAL Fokker F27 turboprop airliner was skyjacked by a single skyjacker with grenades.
A scheduled Korean Air flight from Sokcho to Seoul in South Korea was hijacked by a man with hand grenades demanding to be taken to North Korea. Several hand grenades exploded and the aircraft crashed on a beach in South Korea leading to a total hull loss. Two people died in the incident, the hijacker and the first officer, and several passengers were injured by explosions during the incident.[1]
