From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1Life Insurance is a South African life insurance company based in Dainfern, Johannesburg.[1]

History[edit]

1Life Insurance was founded in 2006 and began its operations as a direct life insurer in South Africa.[1] In 2012, the company introduced a USSD policy management service for its policyholders and adopted saliva-based HIV testing as an alternative to blood tests.[2]

By 2021, the company introduced its own brokerage service.[2]

In June 2021, 1Life collaborated with LifeQ and Samsung South Africa to develop a COVID-19 screening app.[3] The app uses physiological data combined with user input to provide early alerts for potential infections even before symptoms appear.[3]

In April 2023, 1Life Insurance introduced a product, the 1Life Wills and Estate Plan, designed to address estate planning issues, including estate liquidity shortfalls.[4]

In November 2023, it was announced that Clientèle will acquire 1Life Insurance from Telesure Investment Holdings for R1.91 billion.[5][6] The acquisition will be completed by June 2024.[7]
