Shootings[edit]
On 10 February, 2023 at around 10:00 am, a man was shot from a vehicle as he walked to his car from a synagogue he had attended a religious service at. The victim was struck in his lower back but survived the shooting.[2] A Honda Civic that the victim recalled noticing at the scene would later be identified as belonging to Tran.[1]
The following day at around 08:00 am, a second man was shot as he was walking home from a religious service at a synagogue. The victim was crossing a road when three shots were fired at him from a vehicle, one of which struck him in the arm. The victim survived the shooting.[2][1] Tran’s vehicle would be identified from nearby surveillance footage.[1]
At around 5:45 pm the same day, police received reports of a man firing a gun near a Honda Civic. Police arrived at the scene and arrested 28-year-old Jaime Tran, who was standing outside his vehicle, as he was already identified as a suspect in the shootings. Inside the car, police found an AK-style rifle and a .380-caliber handgun on the driver’s seat.[1][3]
