Legislative Assembly elections are speculated to be held in Uttar Pradesh in early 2027 to elect the 403 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Background[edit]

The previous elections were held from February to March 2022. The Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Yogi Adityanath, had won 255 Seats, meanwhile the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav had won 111 seats, 64 more than last time [1]

In 2024, the Samajwadi party made a Historic comeback in national politics by campaigning and reaching out to the rural and backwards populace in Uttar Pradesh[2]

The Party then made history in the 2024 lok sabha election together with the INDIA alliance by winning a total of 43 seats out of 80 and 37 alone[3] Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party along with the NDA only managed to win 36 seats in Uttar Pradesh and Chandrashekhar Azad's ASP managed to win 1 seat.[4]
