9 to 5 is an upcoming American comedy film written by Diablo Cody. It serves as a sequel of the 1980 film of the same name, with Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton reprising their roles from the original film.

Production[edit]
20th Century Fox began developing a modern update of the 1980 film, with original screenwriter Patricia Resnick teaming with Rashida Jones to pen the screenplay. It will see the original cast of Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin reprise their roles alongside a new younger cast.[1]
In July 2018, Fonda described the film as a sequel, and revealed she was involved in the film as an executive producer and was working with screenwriters Jones and Resnick. She also stated she intends to star alongside Tomlin and Parton.[2] Parton confirmed in November that she was involved with the film.[3]
In April 2024, it was reported that Jennifer Aniston and Kristin Hahn would serve as producers on the film, with Diablo Cody writing the screenplay.[4]
