A. Charles Wilson is an American attorney, businessman, and decorated World War II veteran.[1] He is best known as the Chairman and CEO of Ernest Packaging Solutions.[2]
Early Life and education
[edit]A. Charles Wilson, often referred to as Charles or Chuck Wilson, was born in Salt Lake City, United States, on June 16, 1924. His father died when he was young, and Charles, along with his brother Ernest, was raised by their mother, Minnie Wilson, during the Great Depression. Both Charles and his brother served in World War II. For his bravery in combat, Charles was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After serving in the war, Charles attended USC Law School and passed the bar in 1950.[2]
Career
[edit]After completing his military service, Wilson joined his brother Ernest in their family business, Ernest Packaging Solutions, which was founded in 1946. In 1993, Ernest Packaging Solutions acquired Wagner Packaging. Originally a small business with a single location in Los Angeles, the company has since grown to operate in 15 cities across the United States, employing more than 600 people.[3] As of his centennial celebration in 2024, Wilson remains actively involved in the company's operations, alongside his son Tim Wilson, who serves as the president of the company.[4] He is also the chairman of Daico Industries Inc.[5]
While working at Ernest Packaging, Charles also practiced law and served as the president of the non-profit organization JVS SoCal.[6][7] He has also served as the director of Trio-Tech since 1966 and was President and Chief Executive Officer of the company from 1981 to 1989. In 1989, he was elected Chairman of the Board.[1][8]
Personal Life
[edit]In 1954, Charles Wilson married Betty Seagle. They raised two children, Minda and Tim, in Los Angeles. Tim began working with his father in the early 1990s and now serves as the president of the company. Charles also has four grandchildren.[2]
