Musical style and genre
[edit]Abysmal Oceans creates their unique style of Maldivian black metal around the haunting tales of Maldivian folklore and the profound mysteries of the ocean.
The lyrics dive deep into Maldivian dark folklore, exploring the essence of these ancient stories and the enigmatic secrets hidden beneath. Their music is a blend of cultural storytelling and the intense energy of metal, offering listeners a visceral experience that connects them to the rich, mysterious world of Maldivian lore and the power of black metal's emotive soundscapes.
The EP 'Ravenous Abyss' revolves around Abysma, a powerful oceanic entity that dominates the waters around the Maldives, driven by a relentless desire for conquest.
The music and lyrics of the EP explore this mythical being's influence, a force of chaos and destruction in the oceanic realm.
Each song unfolds a chapter in Abysma's tale of domination and conflict. The first track, 'Dominion', portrays Abysma's rule over the oceanic realm surrounding the Maldives, emphasising her power and influence over the seas. The second song, 'Ascension', narrates Abysma's ascent from the depths of the ocean to the surface world, symbolizing her emergence and threat to humanity.
In 'War March', the third track, the EP delves into Abysma's war against mankind, depicting a relentless battle. 'Nightmares', the fourth song, explores the aftermath of Abysma's domination, leaving behind a haunting legacy and lingering fear in the hearts of all humankind.
