Adrián Erik Horváth (Kiskőrös, Hungary, September 11, 1970 –) Composer, Arranger, Conductor, and Music Teacher.

At age eight, he began his musical studies and completed his education in two specialized Music high schools, where he studied tuba and trombone.

Horváth later graduated from several prestigious institutions, including the University of West Hungary, the Bartók Béla Institute of Music at the University of Miskolc, the Varga Tibor Institute of Music at Széchenyi István University, and the University of Debrecen, earning degrees in conducting and trombone performance.

Professional Career

From 1989 to 2011, Horváth played tuba and trombone in the Hungarian Air Force Band, eventually becoming assistant conductor. In 2008, he became the conductor of the Wind Band of Pápa. From 2017, he also served as the director of the Bartók Béla Music School in Pápa. Between 2015 and 2020, he was a board member of the Hungarian Wind Band and Majorette Association.

In addition to his conducting work, Horváth is a prolific arranger and composer. His arrangements are performed in numerous countries today.

Education

Horváth started his music education at the State Music School in Kiskőrös. Between 1979 and 1984, he studied Euphonium under Lajos Filus and later under Sándor Boldoczki.

In 1984, he was admitted to the Hungarian Army Music College, where he studied Tuba under Lajos Hommer and graduated in 1989. He later earned a secondary diploma in Trombone performance at the Dohnányi Ernő Music Secondary School between 1993 and 1998 under Miklós Szuromi and Péter Burget.

In 2002, Horváth earned a degree in Social Pedagogy from the University of West Hungary. In 2008, he graduated with a BA degree in the Art of Chamber Music, Trombone Teacher and Brass Band Conductor at the Bartók Béla Institute of Music at the University of Miskolc, where he studied Trombone under Ferencné Nemes and Conducting under János Sereg.

In 2012, he completed further studies at the Varga Tibor Institute of Music at Széchenyi István University as a Trombone Teacher (MSc). In 2019, he obtained a Wind Band Conducting (MA) degree from the University of Debrecen.

Employment

Horváth began his professional career as a musician in the Hungarian Air Force Band from 1989 to 2011, first as a Tuba player and later as a Trombone player. In 2007, he was appointed as the Band's assistant conductor.

In addition to his role with the Air Force Band, Horváth performed with numerous other ensembles, including:

  • Corpus Trombone Quartet of Veszprém
  • Millennium Brass Quintet
  • Séd Party

He also performed in various productions at the Petőfi Theater in Veszprém and Pannon Castle Theater, including notable works like West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Cabaret, Oliver, and Titanic.

From 1989 to 2011, he taught at several music schools, including the Járdányi Pál Music School in Tapolca, the Várpalota State Music School, the Csermák Antal Music School in Veszprém, and the Bartók Béla Music School in Pápa.

Horváth was the conductor of the Wind Band of Pápa from 2008 to 2023, and he taught Music at the Pápa Reformed College High School between 2012 and 2018. From 2017 to 2022, Horváth was the director of the Bartók Béla Music School in Pápa.

In 2023, he taught Low Brass, Wind Band Orchestration, and Wind Band Conducting Techniques at the Royal Guard of Oman Military School of Music.
