History[edit]

The original store in Budleigh Salterton. Circa late 1970s.

The original business was originally started in Budleigh Salterton, Devon on the site of the former supermarket Normans, now the site of a housing estate on Norman Crescent.

In the 2000s, due to the closure of the supermarket and the development of Norman Crescent, they moved to Albion Street, Exmouth and traded as Albion Street Shoe Repairs which they stayed there until 2020.

The original services provided was key cutting, shoe repairs & carpet cleaner hire. In 2016, the business began to offer engraving as part of it's existing products and services.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the store temporarily closed with their online store operating as usual. It was then listed as an essential business as they provided repairs and key cutting. They also donated hand sanitiser to key workers.

In December 2020, Albion Cobblers re-located into the former Thomas Cook building on Exeter Road, Exmouth.[1] The bigger store enabled them to sell a range of gifts and homeware products. The new store also allowed them to sell a bigger range of products and their engraving service online through eBay.

The business has been family owned and operated since 1975.
