Aleksa Jovanović - Kodža (Elevci, Ottoman Empire, 27 March 1875 - Zaječar, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, 28 February 1943) was a Serbian educator, historian and a participant in the Macedonian Struggle, Balkan Wars, and the Great War.
Biography
[edit]Aleksa Jovanović was born in 1875 in Elevci, Debarska župa, he graduated from the Department of Science and Mathematics at the Grande école in Belgrade.
From 1900, he held the post of professor at the Serbian high school in Bitola until his retirement in 1940, except from 1905 to 1918 when he served his country. At the time of the Macedonian Struggle in an affair involving weapons and secret documents in 1905, he was arrested and expelled from Bitola, that is, from the Ottoman Empire. After the Macedonian Struggle, Balkan Wars and First World War, Kodža returned to Skopje, where he wrote several works about Serbian Chetnik action in which he was a participant and an eyewitness.[1][2][3]
Aleksa Jovanović-Kodža died in Zaječar in 1943.[4]
