Alexander Simpson (born June 2002) is an American middle-distance runner who currently runs for NCAA Division 1 team Bucknell University often referred to by their mascot as Bucknell Bison. As a track runner he specializes in the 800m.
During the 2023-24 season Simpson was a member of the school record breaking Bucknell 3,200m relay team,[1] winning gold at the 2024 IC4A Championships with the performance in a time of 7:28.08.[2] Simpson also ranks #3 and #4 respectively in program history in the indoor and outdoor distance medley relay.[3]
As a high school runner, Simpson qualified for New Balance Outdoor Nationals as a Freshman, placing 10th in the Freshman Mile with a time of 4:32.57.[4]
Outside of collegiate and scholastic competition, Simpson has collected numerous national and international road race victories in varying distances. Most notable are Simpson's 2023 Cape Cod "Chatham Harbor Run" road race victory in the 10 kilometer distance on his 21st birthday[5] and his 2023 7 kilometer victory in the "Corrida d'Esvres" set in the French town of Esvres.[6]
