Alise Trautmane-Uzuner[edit]
Alise Trautmane-Uzuner (born October 13, 1980, in Riga, Latvia) is a Latvian entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of DOORS NYC.[1][2] She is also known for founding the women's ready-to-wear label NARCISS and for her role as a professor at Parsons New School in New York.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Trautmane-Uzuner was born in Riga, Latvia. She pursued her academic interests, obtaining an LLM and a Master's degree in Law and Economics from prestigious European universities. Her educational journey also includes an AAS in Fashion Marketing from Parsons New School in New York.
Career[edit]
With a solid educational background, Alise Trautmane-Uzuner has cultivated over a decade of professional experience in marketing, public relations, and sales. Her career in retail management spans across prominent cities such as New York[3], Los Angeles[4], London[5], and Riga[6]. Currently, she divides her time between Paris and New York[7][8], focusing on nurturing independent fashion designers and niche brands in the U.S. market through her role as the Founder and CEO of DOORS NYC.[9]
Through DOORS NYC, Trautmane-Uzuner has collaborated with over 2,000 fashion brands, providing mentoring, consulting, and retail and PR services to empower independent fashion talent in the USA.[10]
Teaching Career[edit]
In addition to her role at DOORS NYC, Trautmane-Uzuner shares her expertise by teaching Fashion Public Relations at Parsons.[11] Her teaching responsibilities cover both asynchronous and synchronous formats, contributing to the education of aspiring professionals in the fashion industry.
Entrepreneurship and Recognition[edit]
Trautmane-Uzuner's entrepreneurial journey includes co-founding and managing DREEMS (Dreams on Air)[12][13], a self-funded membership-based fashion platform, and founding NARCISS, a women's ready-to-wear label.[14] Her notable achievements have earned her recognition, including being honored as 'Designer of the Year' by the Baltic Fashion Federation three times.[15] She has been featured in over 300 top fashion publications and listed in Forbes' 'Top 25 Most Successful Female Entrepreneurs in Latvia.' Additionally, Trautmane-Uzuner was a finalist for the Innovation and Export Award by the Ministry of Economics of Latvia.
