He also received training at the National Defense College, Washington D.C. USA, IMSIU Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, New Delhi, India.

[edit]

Rahman's diplomatic career began when he joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service, and he was soon assigned to the Bangladesh embassy in Germany as a Second Secretary. Throughout his career, Rahman served in various diplomatic positions across the globe, including Singapore, Jeddah, and Riyadh. He was also concurrent Ambassador to Cyprus, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Sudan.

In addition to his roles as an ambassador, Rahman was appointed as Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat, where he presented his credentials to Dr. Joan Clos, the Executive Director of UN-Habitat, on August 17, 2011[4].

One of the highlights of Rahman's career was his appointment as the Bangladesh Ambassador to Egypt, where he served from August 2014 to August 2016. In this role, he oversaw diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Egypt, enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields[1][2].

During his tenure as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Kenya, Rahman experienced a life-threatening incident when his residence was attacked by armed assailants on February 22, 2014. He sustained injuries during the attack, which was initially reported as a robbery by Kenyan authorities.[5][6][7] The incident raised significant concerns about the safety and security of diplomatic personnel.
