Overview

Ioan-Andrei Cursaru (born January 7, 1996) is a Romanian diplomat, businessman, investor and philanthropist, and writer, best known for his contributions to technology, business, and social causes. He is the founder and chairman of several companies, including Corsaire Group [1], nexus. Group AI [2], the Centre for Youth and International Studies (CYIS) [3], Institute for Resilience and International Studies (IRIS)[4], and International Institute for Emerging Disruptive Technologies (IIEDT)[5], and is actively involved in philanthropic efforts through various initiatives.

Cursaru was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania. In 2020, he founded CYIS in Brussels, Belgium. Cursaru leads the organisation as CEO and chairman. As the Founding President and Chairman of the Board at the Centre for Youth and International Studies (CYIS), he focuses on empowering youth to address vulnerabilities posed by evolving threats. In 2021, Cursaru was appointed as Attaché for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in Norfolk, Virginia. Since 2022, Cursaru has left NATO and joined the European External Action Service (EEAS), serving in Chișinău, Moldova, and Vienna, Austria, where he analyzed and reported on security and defense landscapes.[6]

As the Founder and Chair of Corsaire Group, an international holding company, Cursaru leads initiatives in research and development, strategic events, and the development of minimum viable products (MVPs) to address global challenges. Cursaru has held various positions within international security and defense organizations. Notably, he has served as the Founding President and Chairman of the Board at the Centre for Youth and International Studies (CYIS) and as an Attaché for Security & Defence at the European External Action Service (EEAS). His career also includes roles at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) as a civil-military resilience expert and at the NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) as both a warfare development scenario analyst and a special advisor to the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT).

From 2016 to 2020, Cursaru was involved in multiple international security organizations, including the European Commission (EC), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).[11]
