2005 Cronulla riots

The Cronulla riots happened on 11 December 2005 in Sydney, Australia. The trouble started when two Australian lifeguards were attacked. Some people, mostly of white Australian background, organized a protest against what they saw as a threat to their beach. This led to violent clashes with people of Lebanese descent. [1]

After that, violence spread across Sydney with attacks and damage. The government and police tried to stop it by sending more officers and imposing a curfew in the affected areas. [2]
